The Gems Of The South Of England

The Gems Of The South Of England

If you live in the UK and don’t fancy catching a flight to visit a new spot abroad, you can visit plenty of areas. In the south of England, there are plenty of destinations that you can visit that are great tourist destinations to visit. Yes, that can be a bit expensive but they are parts of England that everyone must visit. The capital is one of those cities everyone must visit if they are from England. Another positive about travelling in the UK is that you don’t need to worry about tour packages either. Let’s look at some of the best spots in the UK.

Bath

The first stop is Bath, a much smaller city in comparison to London; however, it is another stunning city that you can visit. Again, Bath is a very historical city and was founded by the Romans, who recognised this city as a thermal health spa. These Roman Baths are an iconic piece of architecture for the city and can still be visited today.

Another part of the city that is worth a visit is Bath Abbey. A very gothic-looking church that is over 400 years old and has been restored numerous times.

If Bath has never been on the list of cities you need to visit in the UK, then it should be, especially in England. It is a great place to visit for a weekend and if you think you have run out of things to do in Bath, visit the Cotswolds, as they are only a short drive away.

Brighton

Now, it is time to visit Brighton, which is located at the bottom of England. It is on the coastline so if you want a coastal city break, this is the place to visit. It has a brilliant pebble beach that you can stroll along until you reach the famous Brighton Palace pier. For a fun day of shopping, head towards the Lanes, where you can discover independent shops, cafes, art shops and more.

Another fantastic building that is very underrated is the Royal Pavilion. It was a seaside retreat for the Prince of Wales and construction began on this building in 1787. Construction didn’t finish until 1823 and many other royals used it as their royal and coastal retreat.

Cotswolds

There is nothing more British than the Cotswolds and as we mentioned earlier, it is only a short drive away from Bath. It is one of the best places to visit, especially if you want to see Britain’s best countryside. The villages are similar to the ones in The Hobbit, except they are just normal-sized houses. Plus, it is a great spot for those who adore literacy, as it has many libraries that are worth the visit.

Isle Of Wight

If you are looking for a destination you can enjoy during the warmer months, the Isle of Wight is the place to be, although it is great all year round. Osborne House is one of the tourist attractions you need to visit and it was once a retreat for Prince Albert and Queen Victoria. As you can see, we like our royal retreats on this list.

There are many zoos and sanctuaries located on the Isle of Wight that are the perfect places to visit for young kids. Plus, as the Isle of Wight is an island, there are many beaches you can visit if you wish for a day in the sunshine.

The Isle of Wight is much bigger than people think so you won’t be able to see everything. Nevertheless, if you are visiting Ryde, you should definitely visit Quarr Abbey. It is another grade one listed building and was established in the 1100s. It was the burial spot for both Cecily of York and the godmother of Henry VIII. Now, this church offers 2-month internships to young men who are religious and learn about readings from the Bible.

London

We shall kick things off with London, one of the biggest tourist destinations in the world. If you are from England, you likely know a lot about the history our country is built on. However, there is a lot more that you can learn. Plus, London is full of fine dining restaurants you should visit to try flavours from around the world.

As mentioned, the history of London makes it worth a visit. You have the Tower of London, the Churchill War Rooms, Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, the London Bridge Experience and more. Most of these are located in central London so they are easy to get to. You also have Hyde Park, which was a prime spot for suffragettes during the early 1900s.

London is a fantastic spot to visit and is a city everyone should visit once, whether you are getting a train into the capital or driving to the city where you can leave your vehicle at one of the Hyde Park parking lots.
