This type of luggage is ideal for short trips or business trips lasting up to 4 days.

Medium Size Suitcase

Medium-sized suitcases are usually between 60x40x25 and 70x50x30. They can fit enough clothes in for 7-10 days, but if you are going for any longer you probably should get a larger suitcase.

Large Suitcase

Large suitcases are best for longer trips or where you need to bring large items or a larger quantity of smaller items. They provide enough space for up to two weeks of clothes.

If you are going to a warmer country you can get away with bringing less hoodies or blankets which are both quite bulky. On the other hand, you should also prepare for unpredictable weather; for example, if you are going to a warmer country you should still bring at least one fleece and raincoat in case the weather is not as good as you expect.

Compression bags are used to minimise the amount of space each piece of clothing requires, you can remove the air in the compression bag. You can fill gaps between your clothing with smaller clothing items such as socks and underwear. For example, you can put these items in any footwear that you are putting in your suitcase since the space inside would not be used otherwise.

By rolling clothing instead of folding you can compress your clothing more efficiently, rolling can also minimise the amount of wrinkles your clothing has when you take it out of the suitcase.

As a solo traveler, I found that a compact carry-on suitcase was ideal for my minimalist packing style. There are multiple ways you can help maximise the amount of space that you can fit in your suitcase, but the most obvious option is to pack less bulky clothing; instead of packing multiple pairs of bulky jeans, you could pack a pair or two of men’s full tracksuits instead to save space.

When to Visit:

April and May are great, as are September and October. Spring and fall have the advantage of lower prices due to lower numbers of tourists – and the island has its own charms during the cooler months – and temperatures still remain tourism friendly. Summer is also fabulous – especially if you have an Ocean dip or long walks on the beach in mind.

Hilton Head is a place where everyone will be spoiled for choice when it comes to accommodation. You can find amazing vacation rentals accommodations.

There are plenty of options from luxury hotels to villas right on the beach. If you want to be close to your favorite golf course there are also plenty of options. There are homes and cottages, as well as villas that will be perfect for couples or extended families. Best of all there are some incredible bargains that can be had when the masses of tourists depart and the high season comes to a close. It bears repeating that Hilton Head is as delightful in the low season as it is in the high. 

So whether you want to enjoy long romantic walks on the beach, watching the sun come up on a picnic blanket or want to enjoy great hiking trails and wonderful nature reserves – or simply throw off the cares of the big city, then this is the vacation destination for you and yours. Put it on your bucket list and make a Hilton Head vacation a reality. It’s a decision that you will never regret – and one that will create memories that will last a lifetime.
